Nam June Paik early robot
http://cyberneticzoo.com
Here's a link to a cool website with lots of early robotics stuff and artists like Joseph Beuys and Nam June Paik, the latter of whom I knew for his tv sculptures but not this awesome robot.

exoskeleton
This technology developed to aid paraplegics' mobility, has been anticipated by Stelarc's much earlier experiments of the same name. In the case of the artist he was promoting hybridity for the sake of hybridity, and the application featured here is restoration of upright mobility.

studio 360 and NY gallery exhibit on plastic surgery
Well, Orlan does get mention here, but only a nod. The conceit of this exhibit is the plastic surgeon offering up his trade and products as fine art, with the hubris to claim Da Vinci, were he working today, would have been compelled to be doing nose jobs instead of the painting and sculptures he did. Poppycock. Anyway, it does seem to shift plastic surgery again into the realm of fine arts.
